Agriculture Ministry of Bangladesh |
.It is a pleasure for me to know that Bangladesh Krishi Gobeshona Endowment Trust (BKGET) is going to publish its Annual Report for the fiscal year 2020-21.
The economic growth of Bangladesh largely depends on the vitality of the agricultural economy. Agriculture sector plays an important role in achieving prosperity through increasing productivity, income growth and employment creation in rural areas. It is the main source of food energy, vigor, labor force and intellectual power which are indivisible and interrelated. The present agriculture-friendly government under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already given special priority in agriculture sector and has taken steps to make agriculture more profitable for farmers. Bangladesh as a nation has made great strides forward in achieving food security. But more needs to be done to sustain and strengthen food security in the face of rising population, variable and changing climate, declining groundwater levels, scarcity of farm labor and rising cost of production. Currently, our goal is to achieve sustainable food security as well as ensure nutrition safety to all the citizens.
Since BKGET, initiated by the Government, provides financial support to the agricultural researches both Public and Private sector, it will certainly be helpful for agricultural development of the country. I firmly believe that according to Vision-2041, the present people- friendly government under the far-sighted leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, will be able to make our country a happy, prosperous and developed one dreamt by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
I would like to express my felicitation and appreciation to the scientists, researchers, the concerned financial institutions and above all, to the farmers. I am also pleased to thank the members of BKGET and KGF for their valuable support and contribution for Agricultural Research of the country. I wish BKGET’s Annual Report 2020-21 a grand success.
Joy Bangla-Joy Bangabondhu,
May Bangladesh Live Long. |
